Since I rarely get involved in the Thoughts for Thursday, I thought I would attempt tonight. If you have been reading my blogs, you will have noticed that I have been running. I don't always enjoy it, but I do it. I almost always feel great after a run, getting started can sometimes be challenging. Now that the running is becoming a habit (and has been a habit for Kevin for over a year) we decided it was time to start eating a little better. We decided the Tuesday after Labor day was a great day to start. Today is only Thursday and we both had ice cream tonight. Not a small bowl, but a large bowl with magic shell on top. I love sweets!! LOVE them! I can hardly go a day without eating something sweet. I am not a fan of depriving myself completely because then I crave sweets even more. On the other hand, if we have sweets in the house, I usually overindulge. I also like to snack. If the girls are having Teddy Grahams, I will have some, too. Well, not just some, but half a box. The running is seriously the only thing that has saved me from putting on like 25+ pounds:)
Cooking healthy meals is not difficult for me. I love to find new recipes or find new ways to make something a little healthier.
So if anyone has any suggestions for me to help me curve my sweet tooth, I would welcome them. Is this normal to want something sweet everyday? The only time that I didn't want something sweet was when I was pregnant with Norah - and that's only because I was sick so much.
Anyway, I guess I will try to do better tomorrow!

I'm probably not the best one to be trying to advise on this one.
It's been just this year actually, that I have been all about the sweets. I used to not be so bad... sure, I love me some ice cream, and donuts have always been a weakness of mine, but I've never been a huge fan of chocolate or really anyting too sweet. For example, we have always had bowls of holiday or seasonal candy out and it's never been a big deal around here. I would just eat a piece or two each day or so... sometimes I would even ignore it for days and weeks at a time. Not that big of a temptation for me. Now it's a different story... I could have a whole bowl of M&Ms gone in two days. It's bad. Ice cream, cookies, candy; it seems I'm always craving something.
By the way Heather, you've mentioned Magic Shell on this blog a couple of times and I keep meaning to say: WE LOVE MAGIC SHELL!! I didn't know anyone but us ate it as adults. Have you had the different flavored ones? We do the Twix Magic Shell and it is AWESOME!! We'll have to have a little magic shell movie night get together or something like that soon! haha!
MMMM, sweets! Guess it must be genetic! I have a candy jar on my desk. In it fits 6 bags of Starburts. Although my team helps to eat them, I'm the biggest culprit! Maybe it's why Ryan asks for ice cream every nighte?
I have no advice, as I WAY overindulge on sweets too. I have a HUGE sweet tooth and I rarely pass down sweets. Bad bad bad! If you come up with a solution, send it my way. I need all the help I can get HAHA!
I have absolutely no self-control. No advice hear except to not make me your accountability partner!
Hey, Heather. I've been stalking your blog for awhile and just haven't had much of a reason to speak up.
I too, have this very same problem. If it's got sugar in it, I'll more than likely shove it in my mouth - even when it's something I don't love, like SweetTarts. About the only thing I've found that works for me is fruit. I love strawberries, blueberries, and watermelon. If I keep those in the house, I'm much less likely to reach for the chocolate - my true weakness. The other thing I do is to keep the chocolate where I have to work at it a little bit to get it. No candy dish of M&M's for me. They're in a gift bag on top of the refrigerator.
Fortunately my sweet tooth is only to be outdone by my laziness! :)
Glad to see your very cute family on here!

Heather-
As for the sweets, I like them, but I'm nto ADDICTED to em'. Once in while I'll get craving for something sweet, but I try not to keep sweets in the house, therefore it's more of an inconvenience to have to go out and get it....But, I can truly say, I'm a fast food junkie...Taco Bell, McD's, Burger King, I just need my fast food fix.
One thing that did help was after I had Donnie, I went on Weight Watchers to lose the baby weight & I learned how to eat better. I was also amazed at how much more energy I had by eating healthy... go figure I wasn't eating a bunch of junk....Hmmmm, what a shock, more energy!! So, after I was pretty strict with that diet for about 4 months, I lost ALL the baby weight and felt great!! Since then, I've tried to make sure I eat more fruits and veggies, less "empty" calorie foods and I've pretty much stayed the same weight. Okay, now that I sound like a Weight Watchers spokesperson....haha!! I can't really speak for the moment though, since I am pregnant and I tend too go a little hog-wild with food during pregnancy....so, I'll have weight watchers on speed dial in about 9 months.
