Just another post

Lucy seems to be on the upswing of things.  We went back to the doctor and her ears are clear so after her medicine giving her a RAW, blistery bottom we can hopefully get her back to normal.  Hopefully we will get some pics of all 3 girls together this week!!

Daphne is doing great.  We think she is adorable, of course.  She is so tiny - I forgot how tiny newborns are!!  She is a good eater - pretty consistently every 3 hours.  She must have been born with my obsessive/compulsive scheduling personality! LOL!  We are tired, just from getting up at night.  Thankfully, the grandparents have been a huge help!  My parents left on Saturday and Kevin's came Saturday night.  The big girls have had lots of attention!!  I think Daphne might be a spitter - to be confirmed at the weeks go on.  She had spit up some for the first week and today she spit up quite a bit!  Brings back memories of Norah - once she started, she didn't stop until she was one!!

I am feeling better - still sore, but that is to be expected after a c-section.  I am getting anxious to get back to normal!!  Ready to get back to my trainer and start exercising!  I can start walking slowly next week, but can't do any vigorous exercise until my 6 week post partum check.  Luckily I am down 20 pounds already  - just have to get some shape back!!

Norah is doing well.  I think she is in need of some normal routine!  We will try to get back into the school routine a little next week.  She ADORES her baby sister.  She says multiple times in a day "She is just so cute!"  Today she asked me, "Is that all you do - feed that baby?"  Umm, yep, for a while now!

Life with 3

We were quickly thrown into life with 3 kiddos! We were totally thrown off by Daphne's earlier than expected entrance. Kevin and I were going to use Monday (he had the day off, but the girls still had MDO) to clean our entire house. Knowing this was the plan, I basically didn't do anything last week. I kept up the laundry, cooked ahead, and rested - while doing school with Norah and just playing. Clearly our Monday was spent in an entirely different way than expected.
We came home on Tuesday - late morning. Tuesday night, Lucy started throwing up. Welcome home to us. We have tried to keep Daphne completely away from Lucy. Lucy is broken hearted over this. She says, "I better now. I see my new sister." She is constantly asking where Dahpne is and what she is doing. We have so many pictures of Norah and Lucy the first few days Lucy was home from the hospital and we have NONE of Norah, Lucy and Daphne. Lucy seems to be feeling a little better, but you can tell she still isn't 100%. Thankfully, my mom has been here to help with Lucy.
Daphne is doing great! She is a great eater! As with most newborns, she sleeps constantly! At the doctor today she weighed 6 lbs, 4.5 oz. She seems so tiny, but I think you just forget that all newborns seem tiny. She will probably be like her sisters and be on the small side of the scale.
Those of you who know Norah and Lucy well, know that they can't live without their silky blankies. We found one for Daphne that is different from Norah or Lucy's, but still very girly! I had eyed it at Kohl's before she was born, but since we didn't know what we were having, I decided to wait. This blanket was on clearance so it was gone at the Kohl's nearest our house, but the Kohl's by our doctor's office had one left. So now Daphne has her own silky blankie, too.

She's Here!

You read that right - she.  We had a little girl today at about 1:35 pm.  I was scheduled to have a c-section next Thursday, the 22nd, but God had other plans.

Here she is, Daphne Jane.  She is 6 pounds 14 ounces and 20 1/4 inches long.  She has a full head of dark hair - just like her sisters had.  We are both doing well.  Actually in comparison to my first 2 c-sections, this one was a breeze!
Although, we were shocked to go into labor today, we are so thankful she's here and healthy!

More pictures to come!!

My First Giveaway!!

In honor of my 30th birthday and the launching of Foreign Language Friends, I am offering a giveaway.  I will cover the cost of 1 month of membership at Foreign Language Friends.  If you have kids ages 3-8 - this is for you.  Also, if you have a 2-year old, it would be great for you too, as long as you sit at the computer with them and handle the mouse (this is what we are doing with Lucy).  So if you are interested in giving your kids the opportunity to learn Spanish at the ideal age - check it out!!

1. Go to Foreign Language Friends, browse around, watch the video clip, read about the activities and check out the characters

2. Come back here and leave me a comment.  Tell me what you thought of the website so far and which activities might interest your child the most.

3.  I will give you 1 week to leave a comment and then I will draw a name for a winner.

4.  Tell your friends about Foreign Language Friends!  Brain development research shows that the early a child learns a foreign language, the better!!

Cooking Ahead

As we get ready to have this baby, I would like to try to cook some meals ahead to put in the freezer.  So, I'm looking for some suggestions.  I would love to get some recipes that your kids like that can be made ahead and frozen!

Also, I'm sure after the baby comes and we are not having meals brought to the house anymore and the freezer meal are gone, I am sure that I will be wanting to make some easy things for dinner.  I would love some crock pot recipes - again, recipes your kids like!!

Send recipes to my email hswinigan@gmail.com

Thanks!!

Happy New Year!

Wow!  It's hard to believe that it is 2009!  I'm not big on New Year's resolutions, but I do have a few goals in mind for 2009.

1. Spend more time reading my Bible in front of the girls and with the girls - so they see that it is an important part of my life.
2. I'd like to make it through the next 3 weeks of pregnancy with few issues - although my back hurts these days about 24/7.
3.  Get back into a good school routine with Norah before the baby comes - only this half of the year we will be using mostly Charlotte Mason techniques.
4. I would really like to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and back into a good workout routine.
5. I want to get our basement organized somehow. . .and encourage the girls to help keep it that way.  Now, it is such a mess that they don't even want to be down there.
6. Add Spanish lessons to the girls' schedule a couple of times a week using Foreign Language Friends.
7. Once the baby comes and we're settled into a routine, I want to bake with the girls once a week.
8. Have a tea party with the girls once a month - I would love to get a tea set to use regularly with them.
9. Survive my 30th birthday - while being pregnant - in a couple of weeks!!
10. Finally, I want to keep a photo a day blog.  We have a new camera that I am excited to learn about and I shouldn't have any reason NOT to post one picture a day.  Head over here to check out my first post!

I'm sure I could just keep listing things, but I think 10 goals is plenty!!

Happy New Year!
